After snow, NYC tackles 'great wall of trash'
MSNBC
After last week's blizzard, New York City is first starting to pick up garbage. Trash collection was suspended because crews were struggling to plow the streets. Only half the usual amount of garbage collection will be deployed since the sanitation department is still getting rid of the snow. The blizzard had piled 20 inches of snow on New York City, and trash has been more than 6 feet deep in some spots. Mayor Bloomberg and other officials were criticized for the slow response to the snow storm. Bloomberg said today that the next step he will take is to figure out what went wrong with the cleanup of the storm.
